Bump Into – Get Together – 会う・出会う・会合 を英語で表現
A. 挨拶の際の meet と see。 この場合 meet or see どちらでも 文法的な間違えは ありません。
基本的に meet は 初めて会う人に (for a first meeting)、知り合いと会う時は see を使うのが自然です。
□ meet 会う
ex) Let’s fix the time and place of our meeting.
会う時間と場所を決めましょう
□ meet up 会う （約束して、偶然どちらにも使えます）
ex) I met up with my ex-girlfriend yesterday.
昨日 昔のガールフレンドに 会った
□ see 会う
ex) I can see you later this afternoon.
今日の午後また会いましょう
see /ˈsiː/ to meet with (someone)
ex) Seeing you just made my day!

Q. meet と meet up の違いは何ですか？
A. まず、meet you. と meet with you. の両方が ”会う” の意味で使われます。
meet with you. は 仕事の話しなど、込み入った話しを するという ニュアンスが入ります。
次に meet と meet up.
I met up with my friends after work. の両方が ”会う” の意味で使われます。
meet up. は ややカジュアルな表現で、社交・遊びで “会う” という、ニュアンスが入ります。
□ meet up 会う、待ち合わせる
ex) I’m meeting up with my girlfriend.
これから ガールフレンドと 会う予定だ
meet up: see and talk to someone familiar or someone you do not know
ex) We had a meetup to plan the trip.
ex) I see my cousins only at occasional family gatherings.

gathering /ˈgæðərɪŋ/ an occasion when people come together as a group
ex) We provide community gathering places and leisure opportunities where residents can come together.
ex) I’d like to get together with you soon.
get together /təˈgɛðɚ/: to meet and spend time together
ex-l) We say that we’ll get together “sometime.” Then days pass, weeks, months….
